Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Nanyuki Town

Depart Nairobi after breakfast and drive north toward the beautiful Mount Kenya region.

Arrive in Nanyuki town in time for lunch and check in at your lodge or hotel.

In the afternoon, you may enjoy optional activities such as:

  • Visiting the Equator crossing
  • Exploring local craft markets
  • Optional game drive at nearby wildlife conservancies
  • Visiting local community projects

Nanyuki is a popular mountain base town located on the equator and serves as the gateway to Mount Kenya adventures.

Day 2: Nanyuki – Sirimon Gate (2,650m) – Old Moses Camp (3,300m)

After breakfast, transfer to Sirimon Park Gate where your trekking adventure officially begins.

The hike to Old Moses Camp (Judmaier Camp) takes approximately 3–4 hours across beautiful mountain forest and heathland vegetation.

Along the trail, hikers may encounter:

Day 4: Acclimatization Trek Around Shipton’s Camp

This day is dedicated to acclimatization to increase your chances of successfully summiting Point Lenana.

After breakfast, take a guided acclimatization hike toward the upper Hausberg Valley and surrounding alpine ridges.

The hike provides incredible views of Mount Kenya’s glaciers, tarns, rocky ledges, and dramatic mountain landscapes.

Return to Shipton’s Camp in the afternoon for rest and summit preparation.

Day 5: Shipton’s Camp – Point Lenana (4,985m) – Met Station Camp

Your summit attempt begins very early at approximately 0200 Hours.

After light refreshments, begin trekking under the stars toward Point Lenana (4,985m).

Reach the summit at sunrise and witness one of the most breathtaking views in Africa. On clear mornings, hikers may see:

  • Mount Kilimanjaro
  • The Great Rift Valley
  • The Indian Ocean horizon

After celebrating your summit achievement, descend to Mackinder’s Camp for breakfast before continuing down to Met Station Camp.

This is a long but rewarding trekking day filled with unforgettable mountain scenery.

Day 6: Met Station Camp – Naro Moru Gate – Nairobi

Optional vehicle transfer from Met Station to Naro Moru can be arranged at an additional cost for exhausted hikers.
