From beautiful alpine valleys and giant mountain vegetation to the breathtaking sunrise at Point Lenana, this trek delivers the ultimate Mount Kenya climbing experience.
Depart Nairobi in the morning after breakfast and drive through the scenic Kenya highlands toward Nanyuki town.
Cross the Equator en route before proceeding to the Sirimon Park Gate (2,650m) where park entry formalities are completed.
Begin your trek through mountain forest, bamboo, and heathland vegetation toward Old Moses Camp (3,300m).
The gradual ascent provides excellent acclimatization while offering opportunities to spot wildlife such as buffaloes, bushbucks, monkeys, and various bird species.
The hike covers approximately 9 kilometers and takes about 3–4 hours.

After breakfast, continue trekking uphill through the spectacular Mackinder Valley toward Shipton’s Camp (4,236m).
Today’s trek offers breathtaking alpine scenery with giant lobelias, groundsels, rocky ridges, and panoramic mountain views.
Cross streams and moorland landscapes while enjoying excellent views of Mount Kenya’s main peaks.
This section of the Sirimon Route is one of the most scenic trekking experiences in East Africa.
The hike takes approximately 6–7 hours.
Shipton’s Camp (4,236m)

This day is dedicated to acclimatization to improve your chances of successfully summiting Point Lenana.
After breakfast, enjoy a guided acclimatization hike around the Shipton’s Camp area with opportunities to explore nearby ridges, valleys, and spectacular viewpoints.
The additional acclimatization helps your body adjust to the altitude while allowing you to enjoy Mount Kenya’s unique alpine environment.
Spend the afternoon resting and preparing for the summit attempt.
Shipton’s Camp (4,236m)
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Your summit attempt begins very early at approximately 0300 Hours.
Trek under the stars toward Point Lenana (4,985m) through rocky terrain and frozen scree slopes.
Arrive at the summit in time to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the African landscape. On clear mornings, hikers may enjoy views stretching toward Mount Kilimanjaro.
After celebrating your achievement at Point Lenana, descend back to Shipton’s Camp for breakfast before continuing down through the Mackinder Valley toward Old Moses Camp.
The descent provides another opportunity to enjoy Mount Kenya’s dramatic scenery and alpine landscapes.
Old Moses Camp (3,300m)
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
After breakfast, descend gradually through the rainforest zone back to Sirimon Park Gate.
Meet your transfer vehicle and drive back to Nairobi arriving later in the afternoon.
